Under the revisions to Part L1A of the Building Regulations, there
is a mandatory requirement to carry out an air tightness pressure
test on any new dwelling. Our experienced and qualified
surveyors will liaise with your construction programme and visit
your site to carry out the test in an efficient and professional
manner. We will then supply you with the appropriate
documentation for submission to your building control body.
Should a new home fail to meet the standard when tested, remedial measures will need to be undertaken
to ensure that the air tightness standard is achieved. We can determine specific points of leakage and
advise what to do to improve the situation.
The air pressure test is used to test the workmanship and quality of a build on site. The lower the figure
the better the standard, with 10 being the minimum pass mark for Building Regulations compliance. As a
marketing tool, a pressure test result not only illustrates the quality of the build, but will also reduce
heating bills as heat will dissipate from the building at a reduced rate. The slower the heat escapes from
the dwelling, the less demand to replace it.
